On
arrival, join us for a cup of tea or a drink, unwind and discuss your
plans for your visit.
Our aim, where possible, is to
accommodate your wishes and make sure you have an enjoyable stay at
Nelgai. Please remember some activities are dependent on seasonal
conditions.
Enjoy country hospitality at
Nelgai on or off the property - or go exploring on your own.

Bush walking - around the
property
Bird watching - Over half
the Australian terrestrial birds can be seen in this part of
Queensland. Many of the 300 birds have been spotted on
Nelgai. There are the permanent residents, regular visitors and
rarer species depending on the seasons (eg black swans and pelicans on
the lagoon, emus, parrots, blue capped wrens and honeyeaters).
After rain and the lagoon has been topped up, the variety of wetland
birds are in abundance.
Viewing amazing wildlife -
Kangaroos, wallabies, goannas, blue tongue lizards, echidnas, frogs,
butterflies, insects and other small marsupials and reptiles.

Glorious sunsets and starry
skies - Watch the setting sun and then search the heavens of the
Southern Hemisphere for the Southern Cross and other constellations
(charts available).
Bush picnics by the large
lagoon - Picnic under the Coolabah trees - try authentic camp oven
"tucker".
Artists &
Photographers - Inspiring bush
landscapes and artefacts for all artistic tastes. Priscilla is happy
to guide beginners in various mediums.
History - David provides a
window into the illustrious pioneering past of the Western Darling Downs
through his local knowledge and a long association with Miles Historical
Village.

We are happy to arrange visits to
the diverse surrounding farms e.g. cotton and grain farms plus cattle
studs and feedlots. Accompany us to cattle sales, garden days,
shopping locally and other local events eg Condamine Rodeo in October.
